XBox One: the best options for a console trade-in. Ready to make the leap to an XBox One or PS4? Read on for some excellent XBox One and PS4 trade-in deals, plus other offers and coupons on the new consoles. By Marcy Bonebright , Contributor November 21, 2013. With this week sandwiched between the PS4 and Xbox One release dates, we thought we'd present five video game deals that showcase the best of the old and the new. Check out the sweetest console trade-in offer we've ever seen, two next-gen game deals that come with gift cards, and the cheapest Wii mini bundle around. Price: Free when you trade in a working PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Expires: November 23. Is It Worth It?: If you've been thinking about picking up a new PS4 or Xbox One but haven't had the heart to get rid of your old console, maybe this Editors' Choice offer can sway you: Best Buy will give you a gift card worth at least $100 when you trade in your old PS3 or Xbox 360. That's easily the best trade-in offer we've ever seen for either of these systems. To be considered eligible for this offer, the console must be in working condition (Red Rings of Death need not apply), with no broken factory seals. Price: Free when you buy three Xbox One or Xbox 360 video games or accessories priced $59.99 or more. Expires: November 23. Is It Worth It?: So you've decided to trade-in your Xbox 360 and upgrade to the Xbox One. Obviously, you're going to want a few games!

This Editors' Choice deal will reward your early adoption with a $50 Toys "R" Us gift card. All you have to do is purchase three Xbox One games or accessories for $60 each. (You could also purchase three $60 Xbox 360 games to qualify, but, oh noes! Your old console is gone.) You'll find this offer on page 12 of the ad. Although the Xbox One console isn't due for release until Friday, November 22, Toys "R" Us stores will begin stocking select Xbox One games throughout the week, according to its ad. Price: $59.99 with free shipping. Expires: November 21. Is It Worth It?: Xbox One? Pssh. You're trading in your old PS3 and upgrading to the clearly superior PS4! (Hi, Sony! Send us games.) Start building your new game collection by buying Knack for PS4, and you'll bag a $10 Newegg gift card. Assuming you use the gift card, this deal will net you a savings of $6 on the newly released action-adventure title. Price: $144.96 with free shipping.

Is It Worth It?: Casual gamers rejoice: Nintendo released another Wii console earlier this week. For a fraction of the cost of some other next-gen consoles, you can pick up this bundle, which includes the Nintendo Wii mini Console with Mario Kart for Nintendo Wii, four other games (choose from nearly 70 options), and either an Ematic Remote or a dreamGEAR Remote. All told, that's a $50 savings. Note that, unlike the other Wii consoles, this model does not connect to the Internet. Price: $35 with in-store pickup. Is It Worth It?: Feel like kicking it old school? Keep your Xbox 360 and give in to that Skylanders craze you've heard so much about by picking up the Skylanders Giants Starter Pack for $35 . The pack includes everything you'll need to get addicted started: the video game, a Portal of Power, three Skylanders figures, a character collection poster, three sticker sheets with secret codes, and three trading cards. Ante up a working Xbox 360 250GB or Sony PlayStation 3 Slim, and you'll get a $75 coupon good toward an Xbox One along with a minimum $100 gift card. Those of you willing and able to trade in an Xbox 360 or Sony PS3 in exchange for an Xbox One can save some cash via a new Best Buy trade-in deal. Currently valid through Saturday, June 20, the in-store only deal is split into two parts.

Trade in a working Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 console, and you'll get a $75 coupon good toward the purchase of an Xbox One. Trade in a working Xbox 360 250 gigabyte edition or Sony PlayStation Slim, and you'll receive a minimum $100 gift card. So the right combination will net you a full $175. Since its introduction in November 2013, the Xbox One has typically seen its sales trounced by Sony's PlayStation 4. To combat the competition, Microsoft has done everything from slashing the price of the Xbox One and bundling in free games to offering a Kinect-free version of the console. Some of those efforts have helped boost sales , especially the price cuts. Retailers, such as Best Buy, have even done their part by offering trade-in deals to trim the cost of the console. And now Microsoft is doing even more to lure in Xbox One buyers. At Monday's Electronic Entertainment Expo show, the company announced that the Xbox One would be backward compatible later this year, so users will be able to play Xbox 360 games . The company is also rolling out a lineup of new games, launching an Xbox Elite Wireless controller and letting you stream any Xbox game to your computer, all in hopes of transforming the Xbox One from simply the successor to the Xbox 360 to a more robust media console. To qualify for the Best Buy trade-in deal, your Xbox 360 or PS3 must be in good working condition, able to power on, and not be damaged in any way. The AC adapter must also be included. The deal is good only in Best Buy stores and isn't compatible with any other trade-in offers.

Finally, there's a limit of one trade per person. Buyers can choose from a few different Xbox One models and bundles. The Xbox One 1TB Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle runs $400, while the Xbox One 500GB Special Edition Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle will cost you $350. So I'm not playing my 360 too much right now and I wanted to trade-in or sell it to save up for the Star Wars 360 I preordered on Amazon. Any advice I can get for the best possible deal would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. U send in the console, controller, harddrive, cables. Microsoft may let you trade-in your current Xbox One towards upcoming Scorpio console. When Microsoft announced both Scorpio and the upcoming Xbox One S, there was plenty of concern that the company might have harmed sales of its current Xbox One family (including the S) by announcing the much more powerful Scorpio console too early. While Scorpio isn’t expected until Christmas 2017, it’s also expected to be an extremely powerful console — possibly more powerful than Sony’s own PS4 Neo.

Microsoft, it seems, is aware of this problem and has a solution already in mind to counteract it. The general manager of Xbox Services, Dave McCarthy, told the Daily Star that “Some of our retail partners today do trade-in programs and that’s definitely going to be partnerships we continue to move going forward. We want to make that transition as smooth as possible.” “The compatibility thing is a big deal,” McCarthy said. “Because you feeling you have to give up your games isn’t a good feeling, so we take that angst out of the equation. We’ll try partnerships with our retail partners to smooth it even more with trade-in programs and things like that.” It’s not clear what kind of trade-in value Microsoft might offer or whether there will be a difference between the Xbox One and the Xbox One S (presumably yes, but how the company chooses to value that difference at trade-in is its own question). Geek. com reports that the Xbox One can currently be traded in for $80 cash or $100 store credit. That’s not much cash for a system that retailed for $500 just three years ago, and it doesn’t look as if GameStop much cares if you have Kinect or not. Gamestop trade-in values for consoles (values in store credit). Scorpio’s hardware loadout is still uncertain.

The simplest move for AMD and Microsoft would be a straight port of the current Xbox One CPU to 14nm. Simple, however, doesn’t always mean cheap. The Xbox One uses a GCN-derived GPU and AMD’s low-power Jaguar core as a CPU. Jaguar was a solid CPU design when it debuted three years ago, but AMD opted not to continue iterating on the core and didn’t port it to 20nm or 14nm. Shifting from Jaguar to Zen-derived cores could give Microsoft a leg up on Sony, which may have stuck with a 14nm version of Jaguar to get the PS4 Neo out the door ahead of its chief rival. The flip side to this, of course, is that Microsoft won’t ship a new Xbox One for as much as a year after Sony shifts its own PlayStation Neo. Redmond is clearly betting that it can hold on to the Xbox One’s market share for an additional year, and it may be right — at this stage we aren’t sure how many console gamers are undecided when it comes to which platform they’re going to stick with this generation. The larger problem, of course, is that console sales have generally favored Sony. The PS4 has now racked up nearly double the lifetime sales of the Xbox One, at 40.7 million PlayStation 4’s compared with just 21.1 million Xbox One’s. Some of those sales may have come from new console gamers and markets, but it suggests that Sony won former Xbox owners this time around. Scorpio’s design may well be more powerful than the PS4 Neo, but Microsoft could have real trouble peeling off PS4 customers this late in the cycle. The promise of a good trade-in value could, however, give the new console a valuable short-term boost in overall sales while simultaneously protecting the value of the Xbox One S. Post a Comment Comment. Being a PC gamer i laughed when i saw the PS4 being worth twice as much as a Xbox one despite being less at launch, edit hell my 3ds xl is worth the same as the xbox one and the wii u is worth 10$ less.

The price for PS4 is double to X1 – the value is 10:1. Bullshit. I own both and the only reason I prefer the PS4 is that more people have it. Xbox’s problem was 100% marketing. The reason the PS4 trades in for more, is because there’s 2x as much demand for it. The Scorpio is the clear choice for me. With the extra power, I get a console that can also do VR, killing 2 birds with one stone. Plus I get to use said VR on Xbox Live, so can keep my current friends. This is all pretty cool. And the icing on the cake is that I get to play any future Xbox game on a Windows PC too, fair play. Things are really looking up for the Xbox. Are you from advertisement company? How many m$ paid for type messages like this one? His comment makes a lot of sense to me too. I have 2 Xbox One’s and I’m looking to do just the same for the very same reason. Simple Jack – that’s enough internet for you today. Tell your carer that it’s time for beddy byes and ask for your milk and cookies.

Night! I’m curious to know about one other thing… I bought the Master Chief edition XBoxOne, which is more expensive than the regular model….will my trade be equal to the new console? or will I have to forfeit my digital copies of games that are on Xbox1 and 360? I say wait and see what Microsoft would offer, because gamestop is a total bias and rip off company. You aren’t going to get extra for your goofy “special edition” Xbone, sorry tubby. well, we know you’re an asshole now. How convenient. I’m curious, is this a special occasion, or is “Asshole” the only setting you come with? I mean, what kind of arrogant, insensitive, condescending manchild uses “Tubby” as an insult in this day and age, anyway? So I’m fat, big fucking deal, it means I eat well, motherfucker. You got a problem with that?

Don’t answer, because your opinion is fucking invalid, you neckbearded Worthless anon. At least I’ve got the balls to show my face on the internet instead of hiding behind anonymity like a little BITCH. chances are, no, same amount…. also, I hate that it only does its special sound effect if you manually press the power button… imo it should do it from any bootup even by remote. who actually touches their consoles these days right? It would be nice if Sony did something similar, trade your old ps4 for a neo. Except Sony isn’t desperate. Achievement Unlocked: Failed to understand Sony’s financials. Better product – better financials. Trophy Unlocked: YOU failed to understand Sony’s financials…. Please enlighten, oh stupid one. you are clearly biased and would refuse any such enlightenment, especially since the first thing you do is slander others, rather than actually contribute to a conversation. but sure… you don’t seem to grasp just how large Sony is as a whole, nor their WHOLE worth and value (I mean all of it, properties, subsidiaries, offshoots, branches, etc…). those financial issues are nearly a decade old and they are back on the rise in the electronic industry (which is clearly your only realm f concern here).

not bad for a company more than twice as old as MSFT, having clawed from the ashes of a nuclear strike, to be a GLOBAL contributor. but that’s all moot, since you lack the knowledge or aptitude to actually understand, let alone define the situation as it is today. now run along little fanboy. >now run along little fanboy . You’re the one just gushing over a faceless, consumer hostile, corporation, there bud. Now go sacrifice more of your sanity to them like a good little consumer. first off, these corporations are not faceless… I bet you think of the government the same way. they are made up of people, you and me, your neighbor… all people. Alas, it is yet again clear that the issue here is your biased, limited, draconic opinions. Aw, you’ve anthropomorphized Sony. How cute. If only they knew or cared. So sad for you.

They are incapable of reciprocating your misplaced emotions. Your relationship is largely a one way fantasy. :( do you actually have ANYTHING to contribute to a conversation? Or, are you only capable of childish slurs? slurs it is then eh?, bye bye. What could I possibly contribute to your anthropomorphized corporate fantasies? I deal in reality, something which you don’t seem capable of accepting or acknowledging. You’re delusions are cute in a “pathetic wet cat” sort of way. :) Reality… did you just say that, while still having offred NOTHING to either support your absurd claims nor towards having a conversation. So far you made some claim and then ran off name calling instead of supporting said claim. I get the feeling you aren’t familiar with reality. The claim, that you’re unable to refute, came from reality.

Go play with that rootkit Sony gave out. No doubt out of affection and reciprocation of the love their fans devote to them. Ihow does one refute nothing? You made a claim without anything to support it. reality supports it, which must be why you can’t refute the claim. Your lack of proof is what disproves your own claim. On the other hand, the fact that Kaz has turned the company around, slimmed its hardware and focused on media production while not just coming back from the hole, but showing record profits for fy2016 (just one example) shows your unfounded claim to be contrary to reality. Sony has been surviving by selling everything. Even their HQ.. they’re running out of money to move to hide their losses. Meanwhile, the latest financial information shows that phones have lost them another half billion, cameras are down 1.7%, TV and home audio was down 6.4%, and devices lost a quarter billion. Gaming is almost the only area they actually make any money as far as consumer products go, and that’s been mostly luck. Sony has been reduced to a one trick pony when it comes to revenue, failing at everything else. now is where you try and refute. Lol, you haven’t read any financials it seems… PROFIT… Here, read this bit kid.

Also, why do you always forget media?? Games, tv, motion pictures and music. Oh.. wait… did that just refute your empty claim. Especially about all the stuff you didn’t want to talk about? Media, down. TV down. Music, down. You’re using the same report, you just aren’t following where the money came from. You’ll need to look beyond the press release fluff piece, if you’re able. Beyond record profits since 2007? Beyond another year of revenue above cost. sigh, do the reading yourself.

Sony is up.. up enough to be avised as a safe stick to invest in. They are only up in one area: “Gaming” and even they don’t know why. It’s a lucky streak in one area. Not what I’d call a “safe stick” Good thing you aren’t a financial analyst then huh? Stick to trading yu gi oh cards ok? I do quite well in stocks. :D. You should probably avoid them. I doubt you understand how a savings bond works, let alone the stock market, especially given your posts on the subject. And stop upvoting yourself, that’s juat sad. I believe you would be envious of my portfolio, seeing as you can’t understand financials. :) Just look at the climb MSFT had since you started this little tirade. I would be envious of what you don’t have that I wouldn’t understand.

Your posts are sensless as usual. You’re envious of what I do have that you are incapable of obtaining. Brains for one. :) Sigh, your defensiveness and hostility show my comments may have sufficient merit to elicit such churlish insults, and that you feel your own posts on this wanting as evidenced by your continued persistence to upvote your own posts… LOL. My defensiveness and hostility? That’s rich coming from you. Come on, hostilely defend your anthropomorphized fantasy of Sony again. Your ignorant loyalty is amusing. And so we have established not only your motives, but you limited way of thinking, it seems churlish was an apt description. The only thing “we” have established here is your ignorance and bias. You don’t want to mess with someone who is tainted by Shadar Logoth and Machin Shin. What a newb. I can’t wait till I can trade my Atari 2600 in! 2700 here you come!

You can change to 5200 model or even 7800. ATARI RULEZ . I spent $800+ on xbox with the warrenty games and 2nd controller when it first released. I’d like to see the xbox trade in be worth at the least $300 with kenect. Seeing as i was forced to spend $500 because of the kenect. And now they can careless about it. Im pissed. You weren’t “forced” to spend anything. You were an idiot if you bought if with the kinect. At release there was not a kenect-less xbox for sale. So i was forced, at the time, to spend $500 because of the kenect. As Bodo mentioned: “You weren’t “forced” to spend anything.” You even could don’t buy at all and keep your money up to now. The only system avalible 3 yrs ago was sold with a kenect.

If microsoft came out 3 yrs ago and said “newer systems are on the way” then i would have waited. Instead microsoft said “there is no other opion but to by xbox with the kenect” then 6 months later after ppl bitching they released xbox with out kenect. All im saying is…. I was fooled along with a few million other people. Everyone who bought an xbox on release had kenect “forced” onto them. With the only avalible xbox at the time. I still don’t think they are understanding you. I see what you’re saying. Usually the ones saying that are the ones who didn’t get it when it first came out. To add on if you wanted to get the xbox one when it first came out YES you didn’t have any other choice but to get it with the kenect so in theory you were forced to get it. Now some will say “Everyone knows they always bring out different variations” well not everyone is in to everything and all video game talk. So not everyone knows that there IS going to be another version coming out especially when you have the people who make it say there won’t be. You can always choose to do nothing. I waited a year after release before buying the Xbox One(102014) and PS4(102014).

I wanted to wait for bugs to be discovered and fix, hardware problems to be fix, and to see if any good games actually came out for the new consoles. I had and still have the Xbox 36 and PS3 consoles, which had plenty of games to play while I waited to see how the new generation of console fared. I’ll do the same thing with the S. Wait to see what problems it has after release, and look at my options for trading or straight up buying it. I’m happy with my Xbox One., so the S will need to really blow it away in terms of features to be worth the upgrade. thing is, it won’t grow the install base by much of the majority of consumers are the xb1 trade-in people…. and only in the end to have the same issue, lack of developer support in time, and poor online performance. Joel, why use VGchartz?? also, that graph really has some color coding issues… This is problem with hardware that the end user cannot upgrade. You cannot guarantee that the product will have a good resale value. I remember reading at least one article around the time of the Xbox One release that microsoft was considering making the next console modular, so that users could swap out hardware. There was even the idea of an upgrade subscription , similar to Apple’s. In this the user pays a monthly fee, and they get free upgrades to their console at no additional cost.

It gives Microsoft a predictable stream of income, and users don’t need to deal with Gamestop, Best Buy, or Craigslist if they want to replace or upgrade their current console. While this idea has disappeared for now, I suspect it will return if Apple’s upgrade subscription program does well. ExtremeTech Newsletter. UK Gambling Commission warn on binary options regulation. Published on May 26, 2015. UKGC Regulation Advice. The UK Gambling commission (UKGC) has issued advice to Binary options traders in the UK. They want to ensure consumers fully understand the products on offer, but most importantly, use only licensed and regulated brokers. The UKGC has been responsible for the licensing of binary option brokers in the UK since the 2005 gambling act. The UK government however, is considering moving responsibility to the Financial Conduct Authority (). regulation would offer UK consumers far greater protection and would seem a sensible step, given the growth of binary options trading. The UKGC had not previously shown any great enthusiasm to step into the binary options landscape, so this latest press release is to be welcomed. In it, they suggest consumers “ fully research the market ”. One of the key points made by the UKGC is that traders should be sure to use licensed and regulated brokers only...
